Tracy Conover live at Deep Ellum Blues, Dallas, TX, July 10th, 2004.

Well, that was one wild evening! It was actually a Beth Garner show at the Deep Ellum Blues club in Dallas. Beth Garner was actually opening and headlining: She played with her surf trio "Queen of Spades", so that was 3 girls (guitar, bass, drums) and I really liked their stuff. Then Beth Garner came back on stage with her regular band, I missed the first few songs and when I came back I noticed the drummer looked like a dumbass, he was obviously drunk, then after a few more songs he just got stupider and started kicking and throwing parts of his drums everywhere on stage and even on the floor, very lame stuff. Surprisingly nobody tried to tell this idiot to calm down and they finished the set. But then it was obvious this guy couldn't finish the show, and it didn't look too good for someone there to see Tracy in the second set... But luckily the drummer from the opening band was still in the house and she filled in while the drummer was passing out and vomiting backstage.

So around 1h00am they were finally ready to play again and Tracy was there with her amp turned really loud. At this point it became a Tracy Conover show! She opened with a Jimmy Reed cover made everybody realize she was not in the same league. She was very exciting to see and she played great. They played Red House, Bye Bye Baby, The thrill is gone, Side Track... For those song it was pretty much Tracy playing the lead with her and Beth Garner exchanging guitar solos. Beth had her best moments of the evening during that time I would say. They ended the set just after 2h00pm.

Then we learned that while we were enjoying this loud blues music something much less fun was happening outside, a shooting occured in front of the club. We didn't hear the gunshots because of the music though.Tracy couldn't even get to her car, it was part of the crime scene with yellow police tape around it!

At least Tracy didn't only impress the crowd but also the club people and we can hope to see her back there in September, with her own band.
