Descriptions/Tracklists: CD's:
In 1978 there was... SRV (1 CD): This excellent CD is a must for a SRV collector. This is some old recordings from 1978 and 1979 of Stevie Ray Vaughan in the old version of "DOUBLE TROUBLE". At this time they were 4 in the band. Miss LOU ANN BARTON was on vocals, of course Stevie was on the guitar but he was also singing some songs (Pride and Joy, Gonna miss me..). On bass guitar: Jack Newhouse and Chris Layton on the drums. The first 10 songs are studio recordings (recorded in Nashville 87) and it's pretty cool! Stevie plays slide guitar on "i wonder why". The tracks 11 to 17 are live from Austin's blues Festival; 1979. The tracks 18-19 and 20 are from Piona's October 79. Very good sound quality.

Soul To Soul Sessions (4 CD's): A very precious FOUR-CD SET! This bootleg is called "Life Without You". This is 59 tracks recorded in Studio when SRV and double trouble were recording the album "Soul to Soul". I am a great fan of the song "life without you" and i really appreciate the 6 versions of the song! Especially the one that is over 15 minutes long! Some songs are instrumentals, others have lyrics, a few cool blues jam too. A must of any real fan of SRV! Those tracks were recorded from Mars to May 1985 in a studio in Dallas. There is many bootlegs around with some stuff from the "soul to soul sessions" but this 4 CD set entitled "life without you" is obviously the most complete bootleg with 59 tracks! Tracklist:

SRV "Montreux 1982" First concert in Europe (A+): The famous show of Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble at the Montreux Jazz festival in Switzerland. This it the show when many people were booing SRV during all the show!! Obviously some people in Montreux have no idea of what good music is! Anyway they're not all morons, some people appreciate Stevie's performance, including David Bowie who discovered SRV that night (after that he asked SRV to play on his album, and SRV did). The concert itself is wonderful, Stevie start with an awesome Hideaway/Rude Mood/Hideaway medley and his playing is great. This particular version of Texas Flood live won a Grammy Award! Wonderful Slide guitar on "Give me back my wig". Double Trouble were the first unsigned band to play at that festival. Maybe they got some booing because they're a blues band and not a jazz band... This CD include the entire Montreux set (7 first tracks) plus some bonus tracks from other shows (Tokyo 85, etc...)

Life Without You
Tin Pan Alley/Dirty Pool (13:10)
"The Bayou Club" 7/26/83 (1 CD, A): Just like for the good wine, some years are better than others for SRV and I believe that 1983 is one of the best year for SRV bootlegs. This is another great concert from that era, à la "El Mocambo", with pretty good sound quality and different setlist! Another wonderful version of Texas Flood followed by a long "Little Wing-3rd stone" medley. I can only strongly recommend this concert. Running time: 74 minutes. Setlist:

SRV Live Memorial Hall, Ohio, 7/14/1990 (2 CD's, A-): This concert was just before Stevie's death. One of his last concerts. Good audience recording. Just before "Let Me Love You Baby" Stevie tells the crowd that he didn't come there to get shit thrown at him and he asked to those who see someone throwing things to beat the shit out of them! SRV 16sep86 - Stadthalle, Offenbach, Germany (2 CD's; A to A+): This concert has GREAT sound even if I never heard of an "original bootleg" of it. Life Without Your is pretty long, here's the speech SRV says during the middle part of it:
"I'd like to thank ya for the chance to come and see ya tonight. There are
some things that before I leave here, I'm gonna leave with you. You know,
there are a couple of thangs that are in my heart, that I hope you keep in
yours for the rest of your life. It's the only thing I have to give and
that's everythang. You see, when we go through life takin' instead of
givin', hurtin' instead of helpin', we end up at the end of the life we
have to give everything we've ever had up and the only thing we have is a
great big problem...we ain't got anywhere. If you go through life trying
to give everything you got of all the time you've already had it and you
never had a problem. On top of that, you feel good...
You see, there's a man on the ground...he's hurt and he needs a helping
hand. You DON'T push him down further by kickin' him. If that's what you
think, then you'd damn better wear his shoes for a while. Do you understand
what I'm tryin' to talk to ya about? Well, let's take our place..."

SRV live in Daytona Beach, FL, 1987:Great show and good image and sound. Not perfect but pretty good. i'd give a "A-" or "A" for that video. Pro shot. I didn't have time to write the setlist yet so email me if you need it. I can tell you they played stuff like "life without you", "superstition", "say what"...
SRV live in Rockpalast, Germany, 1984: This video is a Pro shot too. Quality is not excellent but i have seen many worst video. I'd give a "B+". Here again, no setlist. I remember he played voodoo child and scuttle buttin though. email me for the full list of songs.
"Legend" show: Stevie Ray Vaughan:This is from VH-1. This is a tv show about Stevie's life and carreer. Very very very good. Interviews with him, with the members of double trouble, with his brother... very interesting. They talk about when he was young, his first bands, the drug problems, the rehab, the albums, his tragic death. Excellent image and sound (directly from TV; A+/A+)
